JEE and JMX system which is deployed within the JBoss Application Server to provide a number of clinical services. It may be used for a variety of different purposes, the most popular being:
- a DICOM archive and image manager
- a PACS, when coupled with a viewer such as OsiriX, K-PACS, ClearCanvas, Ginkgo CADx, etc.

Internal Archive Services (MBeans)
Service Overview: dcm4chee utilizes the JBoss XMBean infrastructure to supply services to internal business logic. An XMBean is basically a JMX MBean that JBoss has built a lifecycle management framework around, which includes useful base functionality. Within dcm4chee these services are accessed directly via JMX MBeanServer invocations. Some of them are fronted by an EJB facade in order to provide public access to the services. The Service Overview section contains a brief overview of this architecture, with links to wiki pages for each of the individual services.

Oviyam is a lightweight web viewer for clinical (i.e. non-diagnostic) access to studies and images. This component is intended for users such as Nurses, Doctors and perhaps Patients who can't easily install a full Radiology client station and/or would benefit from a quick representation of the images. |
